It’s been a couple of years since I’ve posted anything new on here. During that time, I lost my mother. She was 88 at the time and had lived a wonderful life. She and Dad had a wonderful, loving 65 years of marriage together. Dad’s 90 now and misses her everyday, but know that she is much better off now than the last year that she was with us. She had slowly progressed into dementia and was unaware of who Dad was much of the time. But one day, the two of them will be reunited and spend eternity praising and worshiping our savior Jesus Christ.
During this time, however, I began questioning some things in my own life. Faith for instance. With one parent gone, I found myself thinking about my life and how I want to make sure I’m doing what God wants and that I’m pleasing Him. I remembered the Bible says that in order to please God, you must have faith. I then began wondering “Do I have the faith to please God?”
Around 2AM that night, our little Maltipoo was asking to go outside for the usual reason. On the way outside with her, the Holy Spirit just hit me with information that confirmed my faith. I quickly wrote it down… AFTER the dog had finished.
Here is what the Spirit of God shared with me. I hope it helps someone that is wondering like I was.
- Mark 11:22
Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.” - Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.- Do I have the “faith” in order to please God? I want to please Him, but how can I without faith?
How could I NOT have faith?
If I come to Him and pray and ask ANYthing of Him, it would be a contradiction because I would (in essence) be praying and conversing with someone that I didn’t even have faith He existed. - So, the ONLY way to come to Him and ask anything of Him is to say that I have faith that he exists. Otherwise, why pray.
- This establishes that I DO INDEED have faith in and of God.
- Do I have the “faith” in order to please God? I want to please Him, but how can I without faith?
- Hebrews 11:3
By faith we understand that the universe was framed by the word of God, so that things that are seen were not made out of things which are visible.- In other words, the visible world was made out of INvisible things (the word of God)
- Having established that I DO have faith in and of God, and knowing that God is Spirit, he is not visible to my natural eyes.
- As well, Holy Spirit is not visible to my natural eyes. But because of my established faith in God, I also have established, by the same faith, that Holy Spirit exists. Otherwise, God, whom I have faith in, would be a liar. And God cannot lie. So, Holy Spirit DOES exist.
- Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God- Having established that I HAVE faith, it confirms my salvation because God (whom I have faith in) gave His Son, Jesus, whom I accepted by not seeing Him (i.e. saved THROUGH faith).
- Having established that I Do have faith, therefore God exists, Holy Spirit exists, Jesus exists.
- So, I DO have faith to please GOD!
