Delighting in Him

When I was a child, my grandmother introduced me to Proverbs 3:6… “in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

Recently, God pointed something out to me about Proverbs 3:6 “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” AND Psalms 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  These two verses go hand-in-hand with each other.

This verse isn’t meant to be like Aladdin’s lamp where you just wish for anything and poof there it is.  These verses are meant to bring you into a closer relationship with Him.

When I delight in anything, I can’t help but acknowledge that thing.  In order to delight myself in Him, I must acknowledge Him.  The result of delighting in Him is that He will give me the desires of my heart.  The result of acknowledging Him in all my ways is that He will direct my paths.

So, it stands to reason, if I delight myself in the Lord, He will direct my paths and give me the desires of my heart.

The more I delight myself in the Lord, my desires will align with His.  So, when He gives me my desires, He is, in essence, giving me His desires for me… also, because His desires for me ARE my desires and vice versa.

It would also stand to reason that since He would be directing my paths, those paths would point to what His desire is for me.  And since my desires are now aligned with His desires for me, His directions for my paths would also be my desires.

So, bottom line… By delighting myself in the Lord, I will acknowledge Him in all I do and He will direct my paths which leads to His desire for me which is also my desire.

Everyday, acknowledge the Lord and delight in Him… what a change it will make!
