Turning the Table on the Thief

My son had a friend of his pass in a tragic accident.  She was just 16.  It was especially difficult for him because it was the first friend that he had which had passed.  It was such a shock to him and to the others in school.  Sometimes it’s difficult for us to understand why something like this can happen… especially to someone so young.

There are those who will get mad and say “Why did God do this?”  I’m glad that my son realized that God did not do this.  Jesus said, “The thief [Satan] cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (John 10:10)  God did not do this, but He can certainly make something good come from something so tragic.  What if even one kid that knew her contemplated their own future?  Not just their near-future, but their eternal future.  What if that one kid decided to give their heart to Christ?  What if that one grows to be on fire for the LORD and brings numerous others to the saving knowledge of Christ?  What if…

God did not do this.  But, He has all sorts of ways that we cannot even imagine of making something good come out of something so tragic.  Only He could do that.
